Harvest 2019: A Vintage Full of Promise
Boland’s 2019 harvest season will be remembered for the all too familiar power outages (#eskom #loadshedding) as well as daily challenges to ensure that grapes can be harvested without delay, assurance of the effectiveness of the technology in the cellar and consistently maintaining our cooling processes.
Both the winemakers and staff were tested to the limits by the unforeseen late seasonal rain, although it also brought a welcome reprieve from the drought.
Despite all the circumstances that were out of our control the 2019 harvest season was one that surprised us all. Our grapes were of an above average quality and we are very excited to soon launch the 2019 Boland Cellar Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc!
At a strategic level the Board and staff are hard at work to ensure that Boland’s future for all parties involved; producers, employees, staff, suppliers and most importantly consumers, is ensured. The continued sustainability of Boland will be ensured by numerous projects, including consumer research, the first time a project such as this has been completed by Boland. This research has provided us with insightful inputs with regards to strategy, product and the continuing roll out of our vison and mission.
Boland believes in working together. We express “better together” in everything we do. As pioneers of collaboration we look forward to using the rest of 2019 to define Boland and lay a foundation for actions which will be in the interest of everyone that plays a part in Boland Cellar.
