Start Spring with a Waterblommetjie ‘Makietie’ in the Boland

Celebrate the start of the year’s most colourful season and be one of the first to taste the season’s fare of waterblommetjies at the annual Waterblommetjie Festival in Paarl on Saturday 1 September 2018.

Locals, travellers and wine lovers alike can explore an exciting, day-long line-up of activities, with something different on offer at Boland Cellar and its neighbouring wine producers, Rhebokskloof Wine Estate, Windmeul Kelder and Domaine Brahms.

Festival-goers can look forward to a range of pop-up stalls, delicious food, craft drinks, wine tastings, kids activities and much more at each of the participating wine farms. There will, of course, be more than enough opportunities to feast on waterblommetjies in all its creative forms, from the much-loved traditional waterblommetjie–bredie, to soups and samoosas. Live music by various artists, including local favourites Newton & Co. (at Boland Cellar), will be on the agenda all day.

While all the wine producers that form part of the Waterblommetjie Festival are located within a short, convenient drive of each other, another benefit of attending is the chance to participate in a good cause. In support of the Paarl Haven Night Centre, the organisers are asking visitors to donate a tinned can of food per vehicle instead of paying entrance fees.
